What is plasma and  how can it be used  to cut metal?   Plasma is a gas of  electrically charged  ions. ln plasma cutting,  a stream of air is  heated by an elect-  rical arc until it  begins conducting  electricity and  becomes a high  velocity jet of  plasma that will cut  almost any metal  quickly.
